Carlos Salas/Week 5/Prom

   Going along with last weeks high school classic Mean Girls, I bring to the table something newish that I've barly seen.. Prom. Aimee Teegarden is Nova, a serious high school student who is particularly serious about the prom; she’s the main organizer and wants everything to be positively special and perfect for everyone, including her self. She’d also like a date to it, but the guy she has in mind doesn’t really get the gist. Destiny felt a little tricky and ruined the shed containing the prom decorations and she has to rebuild them quickly with the help of the school bad boy, Jesse (Thomas McDonell).The two fell in strange love. Lots of side plots about who’s going to ask whom to the big event propel things along, with Nicholas Braun making the best comic contributions as a hapless senior who has waited too long to snag a date. Anyway, in the end, tuxedos are rented, connections are made, and, of course, lessons are learned but all in all Prom to me was an entertaining but not all that great movie. 3 out of 5 stars for me.
